Rotator Cuff Physical Therapy in New York
One-on-One DPT Care for the Full Rotator Cuff Spectrum
Lifestyle Physical Therapy treats rotator cuff injuries at two Manhattan locations, in the Park Avenue area and the Garment District. Every session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for up to 60 minutes. No aides, no assistants, no handoffs. That model applies whether you’re managing rotator cuff tendinitis, recovering from a partial tear, or working through rehabilitation after surgery.
Telehealth physical therapy is also available for patients who can’t make it into the office.
If shoulder pain is limiting your movement or disrupting your sleep, call us today at (212) 577-9313. We can evaluate your condition and build a treatment plan around your specific diagnosis and goals.
Why New York Patients Choose Lifestyle Physical Therapy for Rotator Cuff Care
High-volume clinics in Manhattan often rotate patients through multiple providers in a single visit. At Lifestyle Physical Therapy, you see the same Doctor of Physical Therapy each session. The practice was founded by Dr. Matthew Seltzer, PT, DPT, and is family-owned and operated alongside Dr. Alexis Allmaier Seltzer, PT, DPT. That structure exists for a straightforward reason: a therapist who knows your history can track your progress directly and adjust your plan as you improve.
Treatment plans are individualized. What works for a recreational swimmer with tendinitis won’t be right for a construction worker managing a partial tear. Each plan is built around the underlying cause of your condition, not just the symptoms, because addressing the source of the problem supports longer-term improvement.
The practice uses up-to-date, evidence-backed techniques alongside patient education so you understand what’s happening in your shoulder and how to protect it as you heal. Therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular reeducation, and manual techniques are all part of the toolkit.
Lifestyle Physical Therapy accepts most major commercial insurance plans, including Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, United Health Care, Oxford Health Plans, and UMR. Medicare and the WTC Health Program are also accepted.
Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation: How Treatment Works
Before any treatment begins, your therapist conducts a thorough evaluation to identify the root cause of your rotator cuff problem. Shoulder dysfunction rarely comes from one isolated muscle, and the assessment reflects that. From there, a plan is built around your diagnosis, your activity level, and what you need to get back to.
Rehabilitation typically moves through phases: managing pain and inflammation, restoring range of motion, and then progressively strengthening the rotator cuff and the surrounding shoulder girdle musculature. Neuromuscular reeducation helps restore the coordination between your brain and your shoulder muscles, which matters for function and for reducing re-injury risk. Manual therapy and muscle stimulation are also available when appropriate.
For many rotator cuff conditions, physical therapy can serve as a non-surgical path forward. For athletes, Sport Rehabilitation is available to address the specific demands of returning to competition. For patients who have already had rotator cuff repair surgery, individualized post-operative care at Lifestyle Physical Therapy focuses on restoring strength and range of motion at a pace appropriate to healing tissue.
